Tawny is so excited to be returning for another year at Ignite. Last year, she was our Distance Learning teacher, but she cannot wait to join our Special Education team this year. Tawny developed her love for teaching as a student observing her father teach his various college courses at Utah Valley University. Her passion for teaching stems from watching each student learn and grow. From her past professional experience as a teacher of a self-owned preschool, and her ongoing personal experience as a mother of three children, she understands that each child learns differently, and she cannot wait to help each student understand his/her unique learning style. Tawny has been married to her husband, Kalani for 19 years and has three wonderful children, Kolby, Riley, and Lily. Her greatest joy is being a wife and a mother. She loves to travel (Oregon is her favorite place). She grew up in theater and goes to as many shows as possible. In her free time she enjoys reading, listening to podcasts and spending time with her family.
Ms. Susie is so excited to return this year to Ignite. She loves developing meaningful curriculum that includes projects in writing as an art form. She has classroom teaching experience and many years of work as a para-educator. She has a special interest in ancient poetry, like that found in The Book of Isaiah and in epic poetry like that found in Beowulf, Gilgamesh, The Iliad, and The Odyssey. She loves to sew and loves musical theater. She appreciates the space provided by charter schools to teach with a focus most valuable to the teachers and parents of a community.
Alyson has a passion for teaching and being around children. She does everything she can to make sure that children have a wonderful learning environment so they can grow and progress. She has worked in specail education for 2 years and before that she worked at a daycare and as a preschool teacher assistant. During the summer she works as an ABA therapist at an autism and behavioral intervention center. She is getting an online degree in marriage and family studies through Brigham Young University of Idaho and is hoping to get RBT certified. She loves working at Ignite and cannot wait for another fantastic year!
Taña is incredibly excited to be working at Ignite and especially in the Special Education Department. She is passionate about helping students and being an advocate for them. Her knowledge and understanding come from her own life experience of being in the trenches with her own special needs children. She knows that hard work, consistency and patience brings about great rewards. She loves learning about ways to encourage and inspire those whose path may look hard and challenging. Working with the students brings her joy because they are so full of love and hope. She and her husband, Rick, have been married for twenty glorious years and have amazingly strong, courageous and resilient children. Together they have two sons and two daughters. She is grateful for the knowledge she has acquired from being their mom and their biggest cheerleader. As a family they enjoy playing all types of games and having quiet evenings at home. Taña is a native of Utah and enjoys the various seasons but definitely prefers the warmth of the sun. She looks forward to another great year working with the amazing staff and students at Ignite Entrepreneurship Academy!
