Volunteer opportunities are now open for the 2026-2027 school year.
Volunteering on field trips, in classrooms, or during activities and events requires approval and a cleared background check prior to volunteer service.
Joining the PTO does not require a background check unless your PTO role involves working directly with students at the school.
Volunteering is completely free. IEA pays for both fingerprinting and the background check.
Already cleared? You're set — Utah's ongoing monitoring system means you won't need to repeat your background check for future school years.
January 15, 2027 is the last day we will submit new background checks for this school year — if you're hoping to volunteer any time this spring, please get your application and fingerprinting done well before then.
Follow the simple steps below to complete the process.
Volunteer Application and Interest Forms
Step One: Complete the Volunteer Interest Survey to select your desired areas of service.
Step Two: Complete the required IEA Volunteer Training.
Step Three: Sign the Volunteer Agreement.
Step Four: Complete Fingerprinting. Once the background check instruction form is emailed to you by our HR Coordinator, please make arrangements to get your fingerprinting done as soon as possible to allow for processing time.

A cleared background check is required for all volunteers supervising on field trips or volunteering regularly. Chelsea Steele, HR Coordinator, [email protected], will send the background-check form upon application submission and acceptance.
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
Connect with other IEA families and stay in the loop on events and ways to help. You do not need a background check to join the PTO unless your role involves working directly with students.
