Lead Teacher/Academic Excellence Lead/STEAM Coordinator
Children put a skip in my step and a smile on my face! After having three of my own cherished children, 2 boys and 1 girl, I decided I wanted to spend the rest of my life teaching and learning with and from children. I attended Wilmington University in New Castle, DE receiving a Bachelors in Elementary Education K-6 with a double Minor in Special Education and History along with a Masters in School Leadership. I am currently enrolled at NAMC to receive my Montessori certification in 2020. I am looking forward to starting on my path toward a Doctorate in Education in 2021. After spending five years in Delaware both Teaching and Leading, I moved to Utah. During my time in Utah I have been actively involved in STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) through writing and receiving grants, implementing STEM events, and volunteering as a STEM Ambassador for Utah. In 2017, I was award STEMi Teacher of the Year receiving start up funds toward a local school's first STEM lab. I am an advocate for project based, hands-on, blended learning. I’ve worked in both the private school and charter school settings and am currently Ignite’s Academic Excellence Lead and Upper Elementary Teacher. As Academic Excellence Lead, I am heavily involved in writing and maintaining grant money, running our school-wide Science Day, Art Day, Music Day, Literacy Week, and STEAM Family Event, and Mentoring Level 1 Teachers. As an Upper Elementary Teacher, I focus on student self-government and advocacy, being the student’s “guide”, and teaching to the student rather than the curriculum. In my spare time I love attending live theater, musical performances, and relaxing ocean side whenever possible.
Jaylene is a Southern California girl who ventured to Utah in order to attend Brigham Young University, graduating with a B.S. in Psychology. Upon graduation she served a LDS mission in Rosario, Argentina which led her to discovering her passion for teaching. After returning from Argentina, Jaylene spent 3 years as the education director for Learning Through Robotics, where she coordinated STEM-based robotics programs for both the Nebo and Alpine school districts, providing children a hands-on approach to programming and applied math. Following LTR, she worked 2 years as a registered behavior technician at Utah Autism Academy. Jaylene fell in love with the kids there, aiding them in learning greater communication and life skills through ABA therapy. When she's not on the clock you can easily find Jaylene playing soccer, hiking, traveling or working on stained glass grouted mosaics- Jaysaics!

Dawn Harvey has a great love for teaching. She loves helping children to discover their own "why". Dawn graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in History Teaching and a minor in Teaching English As A Second Language. Dawn has always found joy in teaching starting with teaching Italian to missionaries after serving as an LDS missionary in Southern Italy. She then taught ESL and History in Mexico at The Academia Juarez. When her oldest was born, Dawn decided to be a stay-at-home mom with her three children. She still found a way to keep teaching in the evenings as a community ESL, ballet, and music dance theater teacher. Dawn then homeschooled her children for 7 years. She taught in several co-op groups everything from history, art, and science to theater. Dawn became the director for the We The People program for the state of Utah in 2016. The program focuses on education and a competition for school aged children centered around the principles and philosophies of the constitution. Dawn finds purpose in helping children discover the beautiful world around them. She is very excited to be a part of the Ignite family.
